Long Trail Night Oct 14 @ 7PM

Long Trail Brewery visits Hop Devil Grill

Thursday, October 14th at 7PM When I was younger, oh, so much younger, I was fortunate in that on occasion we would visit the great state of Vermont. VT is really the best place to go skiiing on this side of the country. In bars and ski lodges , in addition to seeing the usual beers on tap, you know, the regulars: Bud, Bud Light, Guinness, Bass Ale and stuff like that, in Vermont, I always remember Long Trail Ale. It just reminds me of beautiful snowy days in Vermont, this great beer does. Well, Long Trail hasn't stopped brewing good beer. What they have done, is brew more and better beers. Join the Long Trail crew for a night of VT brews: Double Bag, which is a strong version of the German syle alt beer. If you didn't know, most beers brewed in Germany are lagers nowadays, but before Germans discovered the lagering method, they made ales like everyone else. So, Alt basically means "old" beer, as in the old style. This is a very good drinking beer. There will also be the Imperial IPA, the Imperial Porter, and rounding out this Thursday's offering is this year's version of Long Trail's Harvest Ale, in honor of the harvest season. So, make it a point to visit Hop Devil Grill this Thursday night to enjoy fine Vermont ales, conversation with brewery folk, and good times. You might even walk away with a sample of Vermont fashion in the way of a cool ski cap or t-shirt, all of which will be handed out to some lucky imbibers of Long Trail beers. It is the season, after all, to enjoy the fruits of the harvest, in this case the hop harvest.

    Hair of the Dog Fred

From the Hair of the Dog Brewer Alan Sprints himself: Fred was created to honor beer writer and historian Fred Eckhardt. Fred is a big inspiration for me and many other brewers. Fred's work in all-grain brewing and beer styles helped me become a better brewer. Fred the beer is a deep golden color. It is made with aromatic and rye malts and includes 10 different hop varieties in an effort to incorporate the whole world into this beer. It has 10% alcohol by volume and 65 IBUs. We hope that Fred will inspire you to share your knowledge with others as Fred has with us. IBUs for those of you not in-the-know is, are International Bittering Units. Its how you can measure the hoppy bitterness of a beer. Fred is good. So are Adam and Ruth. Get yourself a bottle at the Hop Devil Grill. Now.
